What books you are reading now. At the moment I am reading “Me Talk Pretty One Day”, by David Sedaris. He has such a brilliant grasp of language that even his sentence structure and choice of words alone make him a pleasure to read.
For me he is a sort of modern day equivalent of P.G. Woodhouse. The first monograph (“Ben van Berkel“, Publishers) was published back in and presented concepts, studies and articles - he had only completed one full project at the time.
However, other publications quickly followed: “Mobile Forces” (Ernst & Sohn, ) is a basic manifesto on his own design principles, and just one year later.

At the moment I’m interested in Eric Kandel, the neuroscientist. Kandel won a Nobel Prize for his neuroscientific research and he wrote a beautiful book, The Age of Insight where he talks about how in the Viennese cafés knowledge was shared between people like Klimt and Schiele and Freud.
That is similar to my thinking. Ben van Berkel has lectured and taught at many architectural schools around the world. Currently he holds the Kenzo Tange Visiting Professor’s Chair at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, where he has led a studio on health and architecture.
